On their 1.5-acre greenhouses, they harvest two million pounds of leafy greens each year using only 90,000 gallons of water. A traditional 40-50-acre farm produces the same number of greens but uses 900,000 gallons of water and sees up to 30% waste due to quality specs, disease and other reasons.
“We combine the economics of a greenhouse with the density of a vertical farm,” said Badrina. “Our patented technology creates a controlled environment and optimal balance of nutrients for the plants. The result is lower resource costs and a more affordable product.”
