Gujarat: Aadhaar card not valid to name registration for vaccine

The state government has set out on its activity of registering individuals for the Covid-19 immunization, however review groups don’t acknowledge Aadhaar card as verification of personality.

Satellite inhabitant Lalita Patel was dismayed to discover that the group studying the zone for senior residents don’t acknowledge Aadhaar cards as substantial verification. “Team members categorically told me that we should produce some other document like a PAN card or a voter ID card, but not an Aadhaar card,” Patel said.

Another group visiting a general public in Bopal said they have been told not to acknowledge Aadhaar cards as evidence of character. “The survey form has a column for a photo identification card. A PAN card, driving licence, passport or even a stamped bank passbook with a photograph will be acceptable, but not Aadhaar card,” an individual from the study group said.

Area authority Sandip Sagale stated, “The main purpose of the exercise is inclusion of everybody and so we are not insisting on Aadhaar card. If people do not have an Aadhaar card, any other authorised document for identification is valid.”
